HOPE.you Financial Content Editorial Policy
Financial hardship content can affect housing, legal rights, taxes, and credit. Our process favors primary sources and makes uncertainty visible.
Source hierarchy
We prioritize current federal and state agencies, courts, statutes, regulators, and program administrators. When we say an official source, we mean the organization responsible for the rule, program, case, or account - Not HOPE.you. Commercial sources may explain a product but do not establish a legal or program rule.
Human review and dates
Each guide carries a reviewed date. Imported drafts are not treated as expert-reviewed solely because they arrived through automation. Material changes to deadlines, eligibility, or official contacts require source rechecking.
No invented authority
We do not fabricate authors, credentials, testing, client outcomes, or statistics. When a worked example is illustrative, the page labels it as an example. The About HOPE.you page identifies the site's purpose, limits, and funding approach.
Corrections
Corrections that change a recommendation, number, or source are documented and re-dated. Readers can report a concern through the contact page. Use the editorial contact page to report a specific statement or accessibility problem.
Automation disclosure
Automation may help structure drafts, check links, or import approved library content. Pages are published to help a defined reader need, not to create keyword variations at scale.
Third-party content control
HOPE.you does not rent its reputation to outside publishers. Library imports must match the site's financial-recovery scope, pass duplicate and structural checks, and contain no sponsored or affiliate placement. HOPE.you controls publication, presentation, corrections, and removal.
The checks behind a publishable guide
The claim has a source
Legal rules, program terms, and consumer protections should trace to an agency, court, statute, regulator, or official administrator.
The wording matches the evidence
A source that says an option may be available does not support a promise that a reader will qualify.
The page has a useful job
A guide must help with a real decision, comparison, calculation, checklist, or referral. A new keyword alone is not a reason to publish.
